Bank Mandiri will once again serve as the title sponsor for the Indonesia Open, marking the fourth consecutive year of their partnership with the Asian Tour. This prestigious National Open, a longstanding fixture in the region, will return to the Pondok Indah Golf Course, a familiar venue for the event. The tournament is scheduled for August 28-31 and will offer a total prize fund of $500,000, with the winner receiving $90,000.
The collaboration between Bank Mandiri, Pondok Indah Golf Course, and the National Open has been ongoing, and this year’s event continues to strengthen that relationship. Wisnu Trihanggodo, a senior executive at Bank Mandiri, emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting key projects like the Indonesia Open, highlighting the tournament’s growth, regional prestige, and its role in promoting golf in Indonesia. He expressed enthusiasm for another exciting week at the historic Jakarta course.
Last year’s champion, English golfer Steve Lewton, who had finished second in the two previous editions, will be defending his title in what will be the ninth Asian Tour event of the season. Cho Minn Thant, CEO of the Asian Tour, noted that the Indonesia Open’s mid-season timing helps maintain momentum for the tour’s second half. He praised Bank Mandiri and Pondok Indah Golf Course for their contributions to the event’s success, alongside the Indonesia Golf Association.
Suharsono, Secretary-General of the Indonesia Golf Association, expressed gratitude for Bank Mandiri’s steadfast support and highlighted the significance of the four-year title sponsorship in fostering golf’s growth in Indonesia. He also shared excitement about returning to Pondok Indah Golf Course, renowned for its world-class facilities and strong ties to the tournament.
Pondok Indah Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in the 1970s and renovated in 2010, is located near Jakarta’s city center and has a rich history, including hosting the 1983 World Cup of Golf. Erick Purwanto, the course director, conveyed pride in hosting the National Open again and promised a top-tier event.
Notably, Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar is the only player to have won the Indonesia Open three times, with two of those victories at Pondok Indah Golf Course in 2016 and 2022.
